SM CARRIES ON TRASH TO CASH PROJECT
SM City Bacolod is involved! SM continues
with its Corporate Social Responsibility projects such as the Trash to Cash
Recycling Market Fair every first Friday and Saturday of each month. This reduces
solid wastes of tenants and encourage shoppers to practise waste
segregation.
Recycling Market
“Trash to Cash” event was launched last February 2007 to raise awareness
in the community on the environment efforts of the mall. This event promotes
the benefits of waste segregation and recycling. The disposal of unused
materials/waste in an environment friendly way through groups of
responsible recyclers gives one an additional income from the sale of
waste material that has been regarded as no value. This event is
participated in by customers and the rest of the community held simultaneous in
all malls every 1st Friday and Saturday of the month.
Under the SM Solid Waste Management Program, SM promotes the 3Rs
of Waste Management . Recycle, Reuse and Reduce.
Recycle
- Segregate waste and make sure that it is collected
and taken for recycling .
Reuse
- Dont throw away wastes , they can be use for other
purposes in your homes, office.
Reduce -
Always try to think of ways and means to reduce generation of unnecessary
waste.
All SM tenants
across all malls are enrolled in Tenant Solid Waste management program to
reduce the volume of solid wastes through proper waste disposal. Tenants
are given orientation on the benefits of waste management to encourage
support on waste segregation at source and proper disposal.
Collection and consolidation are strictly monitored to ensure 100% compliance
of all tenants. At the same time, mall garbage haulers are also oriented to
adhere to the waste management program.
SM also has
segregated trash bins with proper labels to promote waste management and
encourage practice of waste segregation among tenants and shoppers. The next Trash to Cash Recycling Market Fair
is on March 2 & 3.
