Maria Aragon sings SM Christmas Bop

International YouTube sensation Maria Aragon was chosen by SM Supermalls to sing the remixed version of SM Supermalls’ official holiday tune, SM Christmas ChriSMs Bop, to make the Christmas celebration extra special for its shoppers and loyal patrons. This year’s shopping experience for the holiday season will be a breeze because all of the favorite things are found at any SM Supermalls.

The 11 year old, Maria Aragon has come a long way ever since she uploaded a video of her breakthrough acoustic rendition of Lady Gaga’s song, Born This Way, in February this year. This video has become a viral hit after Lady Gaga herself saw and promoted this video urging her fans to view it, and at present the video already reached more than 43 Million views worldwide.

After the rise in popularity and fan-base that the video had generated for Maria Aragon, she was invited by Ellen DeGeneres to perform the song at her show. She eventually was invited by Lady Gaga to perform with her during her Monster Ball Tour leg in Toronto. Maria Aragon was also given the opportunity to perform for dignitaries including Canadian Prime Minister Stephen Harper, and for the Duke and Duchess of Cambridge during their 2011 royal tour of Canada.

Meanwhile, SM City Bacolod revealed its Christmas centerpiece – a giant Christmas wreath with Christmas tree and big red Santa chair- during the grand Christmas launch held at the mall’s Northwing Event Centre recently. 

Vice Mayor Jude Thaddeus Sayson, Councilors Em Ang and Catalino Alisbo, Ms. MassKara 2011 Nikki Drilon and Executive Asst. to the Mayor Mr. Moises Dela Cruz were the guests of honor. Chorale groups in Bacolod City and Negros Occidental sung live the new SM Christmas ChriSMs now being played across all 40 SM malls nationwide. Part of the program was the gift-giving to children of Joy Foundation.
