Around 150 tenants personnel and SM mall admin employees attended the Green Retail Agenda held at the Event Centre of SM City Bacolod recently. It was organized simultaneously across 41 SM malls nationwide to emphasize the social, economic and environmental benefits of green retail.
Councilor Al Victor Espino, chair of the Committee on Environment and Ecology of Bacolod City, was the keynote speaker who presented the environment projects of the city and, at the same time, appealed to participants to practice proper waste disposal. Espino publicly expressed his strong support to SM eco bags and biodegradable plastics which help create awareness on environment-friendly initiatives.
Moreover, Arch. Glenn Ymballa of the United Architect of the Philippines – Bacolod Chapter and SM Department Store asst. branch manager Willie Gamboa shared about sustainable built environment and corporate green initiatives, respectively.
The Green Retail Agenda is an annual event offered by SM Supermalls to all mall tenants not only to help them to be environmentally conscious but also help their business flourish through profitable and efficient ways. SM has always made it a point to encourage mall tenants and concessionaires to increase earnings and create a greener future with the use of environment-friendly materials and other green strategies.
