In cooperation with Informatics Computer Institute, SM Global Pinoy Center conducted a computer literacy lecture to the family and beneficiaries of Overseas Filipino Workers at the Northwing Event Centre of SM City Bacolod recently.

More than 100 attendees were members of the Global Pinoy Center, OFW Federation of Talisay, Overseas Workers Welfare Administration, Local Council of Taculing, Commission on Migrants Diocese and Bacolod City College. Informatics Computer Institute professors Virgil Catajoy and Danny Chiva Almaden from Cebu City lectured the basic information technology to participants who also underwent hands-on training on email and internet surfing. This aimed to educate and enhance their skills on virtual communication so that they could easily get in touch with their families abroad.

A project under SM Cares Corporate Social Responsibility initiative, the Global Pinoy Center or GPC is a one-stop shop that offers remittances services, communication facilities, shopping and even skills training, investment and legal consultations. It aims to serve the needs and champion the cause of Pinoys abroad and expatriates, as well as their dependents and beneficiaries living in the country.

Overseas Filipino Worker who visits any SM GPC can get his own personalized Global Pinoy Card, which entitles him to exclusive rewards and privileges. This card also allows him exclusive entry to any SM Global Pinoy Center where he can do transactions at the BDO remittance counter, SM Department Store's Foreign Exchange or Business Counter. He can also use the center’s Internet facilities, voice or video calls for free. His card will also enable him to enjoy Php80,000.00 worth of discounts and privileges and other SM promos. This card is also available for the Global Pinoys families and beneficiaries, which they can use in any of our Global Pinoy Centers across all SM Supermalls nationwide.
