The Bacolod-Negros Occidental Federation for Information and Communications Technology (BNEFIT) will hold the 5th Bacolod-Negros Occidental Information Technology (IT) Educational Fair on March 1-2, 2011 from 10am – 9pm at the Event Centre of SM City Bacolod.

Dubbed “ICT Olympics 2011”, it is an annual competition and exhibition that aims to encourage the participation of both public and private schools from elementary, secondary to tertiary levels.

BNEFIT Chair Jocelle Batapa-Sigue said this annual fair’s objectives also hopes to raise the level of consciousness and knowledge of the public regarding information and communication technology, ICT-related enterprises and industries, and its opportunities; provide a venue for all schools in Bacolod City and Negros Occidental to showcase, update and improve their ICT courses; strengthen the network and linkage among these schools in order to ensure adequate human resource for ICT enterprises in Bacolod and Negros Occidental; and to undertake activities that will stir the interest of the general public towards ICT.

There will also be career lectures, exhibits and contests such as the  inter-school ICT quiz for college, high school and elementary levels; on-the-spot   web page design for college level; on-the-spot powerpoint presentation making for high school level;  digital arts for college and high school levels and computer paint for elementary level.

The exhibits will highlight networking, software development, webpage design, call center simulation, animation, security system (software and hardware), internet, desktop presentations, medical/legal transcription, business process outsourcing, and the latest trends in ICT.
