SM City Bacolod's Green Film Festival schedule which is being held every third Monday and Tuesday of the month has been moved to November 22-23, 2010. This project invites students and the public to watch three environmentally-themed documentaries to create awareness on what is happening in the world today.

All 40 malls nationwide will be showing State of the Planet, Project Noel and Buhos (Downpour) at 8AM, 10AM and 12NN, respectively.

State of the Planet, a BBC/Discovery Channel Co-Production, 2000 has been awarded Special Jury Award Jackson Hole in 2003. David Attenborough presents a programme that delves into the current state of the planet as he journeys across the globe to demystify what is happening to the planet as a result of human destruction. His quest takes him on a truly global trail, from Kenya to Ecuador, from the Philippines and the Maldives to Easter Island, and from South Africa to California.

Project Noel is by Miss Earth Philippines Batch 2009 and Carousel Productions. t is the legacy project of Miss Philippines-Earth Batch 2009 through the Miss Earth Foundation. It is a short environmental advocacy film which aims to spread the value of recycling and love for Mother Earth. In the film, Noel (Jairus Aquino), son of Victor (Jojit Lorenzo), is a scholar of St.James Elementary School. As part of the school finals, they are required to make a Science Project that pertains to "What are the threats to Mother Earth?"

Buhos (Downpour) is a 30-minute documentary produced and narrated by Senator Loren Legarda, a United Nations Champion for Disaster Risk Reduction and Climate Change Adaptation in the Asia Pacific. Directed by internationally-acclaimed Filipino director Brillante “Dante” Mendoza,  Buhos is an eye-opening documentary on global warming. Its title was inspired by Ondoy and Pepeng, two typhoons that hit the Philippines during the making of the film. Behind the lens, Mendoza captured the ill effects of climate change on human lives. Animation as well as actual video footage of the typhoons, floods and the devastation resulting from global warming helped in the visual illustration of this narrative.

The Green Film Festival is just one of the many environmental activities of SM Prime Holdings through SM Cares, which aims to raise the environmental consciousness of the public. Last June 8,  SM also hosted one of its biggest activities in country -  the Leadership Conference Series that featured former US Vice President Al Gore – which aimed to encourage business to incorporate green practices in its operations.
