In line with SM Supermalls' long-standing commitment to being responsible stewards of the environment, SM City Bacolod will hold an week-long Trash to Crafts exhibit  from June 2-8, 2010 at 10AM-9PM at the mall's Northwing Event Centre and Atrium.

This event will showcase Bacoleños ingenuity in creating recyclable materials into artworks created by Bacolod's novelty, souvenirs, handicrafts and accessories makers namely The Negros Showroom or the Association of Negros Producers and Papel Handicrafts. The Local Government of San Carlos City and Sagay City, and the West Negros University will also be sharing their Waste Management Program.

“Trash to Crafts” will officially open with a ribbon cutting ceremony to be led by invited government officials and participating organizations on June 2, 2010 at 3PM at the Event Centre of SM City Bacolod. It will be followed by a series of Pro-Environment Lectures to be conducted by Alex Anuales and Nikki Seva of ANP, Engr. Paolo Petalver of the West Negros University, and Jay Costanilla and Michelle Dumdum of San Carlos City.

Earth Hour 2010: In partnership with the Department of Energy, 
WWF, Greenpeace, SM takes the lead in promoting the importance 
of every citizen's role in the generation and reduction of Greenhouse gas.

SM, through its environment programs such as this, aims to continuously drive positive change toward more sustainable practicies and stronger ties with the community. SM advocates environmental education through practice and information dissemination among employees, tenants, customers and communities where SM malls are located.
