The SM Green Film Festival that featured free film showing of selected award-winning documentaries by BBC and Discovery was held on February 10, 2010 from 8AM-4PM at the SM Cinema 4. It was attended by students from Jack & Jill School-Homesite, Trinity Christian School, St. Rose of Lima, universities and colleges in Bacolod, private and public sectors, and non government organizations. 


The films shown were State of the Planet, The 11th Hour, Warnings of the Wild, and Planet Earth. This project was made possible in cooperation with the Department of Education, the DENR – Provincial Environment and Natural Resources (PENRO), Provincial Environment Management Office (PEMO) and the Bacolod Earth Day Convenors headed by Councilor Jocelle Batapa-Sigue.

The SM Green Film Festival was simultaneously held 34 malls across the country as SM way of sharing the message on Climate Change with the Filipino youth. The SM Environment Committee specifically aims to promote environmental sustainability through mall, tenant and community endeavors while simultaneously combining going green with good business.


To extend the environmental advocacy and unite all for e greener and safer world, SM Supermalls will bring the former United States of America Vice President Al Gore to the Philippines to talk about his book “An Incovenient Truth, An Updated Asian Version” on April 30, 2010 at SMX Convention Center, Mall of Asia Complex.
